IdeaPad Flex and IdeaPad Yoga are Lenovo's consumer 2-in-1 line with a 360°-rotating screen - the counterpart to the ThinkPad Yoga, but in a budget, colorful version aimed at the home market rather than business. Our catalog covers parts for many generations: IdeaPad Flex 2 (14/15), Flex 3 (11/14, including "Yoga 500" variants), Flex 4 (14/15, "Yoga 510"), Flex 5 (14/15/16, various ITL/ALC/ABR generations), and older IdeaPad Yoga 2/3/710.
How it differs from the ThinkPad Yoga (i47)
The 360° hinge mechanism on the IdeaPad Flex/Yoga is simpler than the patented Lift'n'Lock system on the ThinkPad Yoga (which retracts the keys when folded into tablet mode). What IdeaPad offers instead is much greater color variety in its cases (black, white, red, gray, gold, orange - depending on generation and market), which makes matching the right color variant just as important as matching the model itself.
Most commonly ordered parts
- Display hinges - more heavily loaded in convertibles than in classic laptops (a full 360° rotation, not just opening to roughly 135°)
- Bottom case - available in many color variants for the same model; the FRU number matters, not just the model name and an eyeballed color match
- Palmrest with keyboard - keyboard layout (QWERTY/QWERTZ) and backlight vary between markets/generations
- Touch panel / digitizer - most Flex/Yoga models have a touchscreen, with a separate FRU from the non-touch version
How to find the right part
IdeaPad Flex generations have complicated internal designations (e.g. "Flex 5 15 IIL05" vs "Flex 5 15 ALC05" - different processor platforms within the same "5" family), so we always ask for the FRU number from the service sticker under the laptop, or the serial number - it's the only reliable way to match both the color and the variant.
