Parts for Lenovo Legion Slim - the Thinner Gaming Line
Legion Slim is a trimmed-down version of Lenovo's Legion gaming line - a thinner, lighter chassis than the standard Legion 5/7, at the cost of a somewhat different cooling layout. Our catalog covers parts for the Legion Slim 5 16 across several platform variants: IRH8, APH8 (generation 8), IRH9, APH9, ARP9 (generation 9), IRX8, IRX9.
How it differs from the Legion 5/5i and Legion 7/S7
Despite the similar name, the Legion Slim is a separate construction line, not simply a trimmed version of the same parts used in the Legion 5 - the chassis, hinges, heatsinks and fans carry different FRU numbers than the standard Legion 5, despite sharing the same 16" screen size. The platform codes (IRH/APH/ARP plus a generation number) distinguish the CPU variant: IR = Intel, AP/AR = AMD - and this affects the shape of the heatsink/fan, since motherboards with different CPUs have different cooling layouts.
Most commonly ordered parts
- Fan/heatsink - heavily used in gaming laptops; dust buildup and bearing wear are typical causes of loud operation or overheating
- Display housing with hinges - sold as one assembly (housing + hinges), available in color variants (e.g. gray)
- Palmrest with keyboard - different FRU numbers for the IRH8/APH8 platform versus APH9/ARP9
- Touchpad / clickpad and its connecting cable - separate FRU numbers between generation 8 and 9
How to find the right part
Because there are so many platform variants under the same "Legion Slim 5 16" name, we always ask for the full designation from the service sticker (e.g. "82Y..." - the Lenovo model number) or the serial number - it's the only reliable way to match the correct fan, housing, or palmrest.
