Do parts from the ThinkPad X230 fit the X220?

Partly. The X220 and X230 (successor) have a very similar 12.5" chassis — many cases, batteries and parts are shared. The most important difference is the keyboard: the X220 still came with the classic 7-row keyboard, while the X230 already has the island (chiclet) one — and these are NOT interchangeable. Match the motherboard by FRU number (X220 — Sandy Bridge, X230 — Ivy Bridge).

What battery does the X220 have and which one to choose?

The X220 has a classic, removable battery mounted at the rear (6- or 9-cell) — an older design predating the Power Bridge system. Choose the variant by FRU number. Separately there is a small CMOS battery backing up the BIOS settings.

Which LCD display cable should I choose for the X220?

The X220 came with a 12.5" HD (1366×768) panel in an IPS (Premium HD) or a standard TN variant. The display cable has its own FRU number — choose the one matching your panel. First determine your display type, then choose an item from the Display, cables and hinges section.
