Most important point when ordering: CPU fan vs GPU fan

Every Legion 5 has two independent fans - one for the processor (CPU), one for the graphics card (GPU). These are different parts with different FRU numbers. Before ordering, determine whether you need the CPU fan, the GPU fan, or both.

The distinction is simple: the CPU fan sits above the processor (left side), the GPU fan sits above the graphics card (right side) - as seen from below with the service cover removed. The heatsink may be shared between both.

How to choose the right display cable for Legion 5?

The display cable (eDP cable) for Legion 5 is selected based on the panel refresh rate:

  • 60 Hz - standard panel, different cable than in 120/144 Hz models
  • 120/144 Hz - high refresh rate panel, requires 40-pin cable or FHD eDP
  • 165/240 Hz - only in PRO and the latest generations

Can you replace the CPU or GPU in Legion 5?

No. In Legion 5 from models 2020 onwards (IMH05/ARH05) the processor and graphics card are soldered directly to the motherboard (BGA). Replacement is not possible without specialist reballing equipment. The only user-replaceable components are: RAM (SODIMM), M.2 SSD, battery, fans, display, keyboard and housing.

How many RAM slots does Legion 5 have?

Legion 5 15 IMH05/ARH05/ACH6/ITH6 models have 2 SODIMM DDR4 slots. Legion 5 15 IAH7 and later models have 2 SODIMM DDR5 slots. Maximum is 32 GB (16+16 GB) or 64 GB in some IAH7 and IRX8+ versions.

Does a fan from Legion 5 15 ACH6 fit in the 15 ITH6?
