ThinkPad E-series Parts - Lenovo's Budget Business Line
The ThinkPad E-series is Lenovo's most affordable business laptop line, positioned below the T and L series. Our catalog covers parts for more than 40 E-series models: from older E420, E430, E520, E530 (matte-bezel, Phillips-screw era), through the E450-E595 range, to the current E14 and E15 (successive Intel/AMD generations, USB-C).
How does the E-series differ from the T-series?
The E-series is a budget build: the chassis is usually plastic (not the magnesium-carbon fiber used in the T-series), the hinge mechanism is simpler, many generations lack keyboard backlight or offer only a basic version, and there are fewer ports. An important construction difference: newer E-series models (similar to IdeaPad) often use a snap-fit chassis (clips), while the T-series and X1 Carbon use visible screws - this affects how you disassemble the laptop when replacing parts.
Most commonly replaced parts
- Display hinges - a typical failure point on older E420-E480 models (the plastic hinge covers crack from frequent opening)
- LCD bezels and display housings - separate FRU numbers for touch and non-touch versions
- Bottom case (base cover) - color and finish vary between generations
- Palmrest - some E460/E470 variants include a fingerprint reader, others don't
- Keyboard - layout and mounting differ between the E4xx/E5xx era and the newer E14/E15
How to find the right part
The E-series has many color and configuration variants within the same model (e.g. E480 with or without a fingerprint reader), so the FRU number matters especially here - the model name alone isn't enough. Send us your laptop's serial number (sticker on the bottom, or wmic bios get serialnumber in Command Prompt) and we'll match the exact right part.
You can find the full range of E-series parts in our components catalog - keyboards, screens, hinges and batteries for every generation.
