The fan drives air through the heatsink that draws heat from the processor. It runs on DC 5V at 2.25W, has a densely bladed impeller in an enclosed housing and a lead ending in a plug for the motherboard. The fan is sold on its own, without the heatsink or heat pipe, so your existing heatsink stays in the laptop.
