🔧 INSTALLATION PROCESS

1. Disable Fast Startup in Windows, turn off the laptop, disconnect the power adapter and all cables, and disable the built-in battery in ThinkPad Setup (Disable built-in battery)
2. Remove the removable battery and the base cover assembly
3. In the X270 the M.2 drive sits in an adapter in the storage drive bay: remove the M2 × 2.7 mm screw securing the drive in the bay and lift it out together with the adapter
4. Remove the M2 × 3 mm adapter screws and take out the old M.2 drive
5. Insert the 00UP641 drive into the adapter connector and tighten all screws (black, nylon-coated) to 0.181 Nm
6. Install the drive in the bay, refit the cover and battery, connect the power adapter, check that the drive is detected in BIOS and install the system or restore a backup
In other laptops the drive goes straight into the M.2 2280 slot and is secured with one screw.
Replacement by a technical service or a person experienced in laptop repairs is recommended.
