❓ WHEN SHOULD YOU REPLACE THE LCD BACK COVER?

• Problem with a cracked lid after a drop or pressure in a bag
• Problem with a bent lid that no longer closes flush with the rest of the laptop
• Problem with broken hinge mounting points - the lid wobbles or creaks when opened
• Problem with a scratched or worn lid, visible every time you take the laptop out of the bag

🔧 INSTALLATION

1. Turn off the laptop, disconnect the power supply and remove the nano-SIM tray (if fitted)
2. Remove the base cover assembly and disconnect the battery
3. Remove the I/O bracket
4. Disconnect the display cables from the motherboard, remove the hinge screws (4 x M2.5 x 4 mm and 1 x M2 x 5 mm) and lift off the LCD unit
5. Remove the LCD bezel - an adhesive bezel sheet cannot be reused once removed, so have a new one ready
6. Remove the 6 hinge screws (M2.5 x 3.5 mm) and take off the hinges
7. Lift out the panel by slowly pulling the elastic adhesive tapes, then disconnect the LCD cable from it
8. Transfer the LCD cable and the camera-and-microphone module and the Wi-Fi antennas to the new cover
9. Reassemble the display in reverse order using new panel adhesive tapes and a new bezel; tighten M2.5 screws to 0.29 Nm and M2 screws to 0.18 Nm
10. Start the laptop and check the display, camera and Wi-Fi
Order according to the Lenovo Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) for ThinkPad T16 Gen 1 / P16s Gen 1. Replacement by a service technician or a person experienced in laptop repairs is recommended.
