The cover closes the 2.5" drive bay on the bottom of the laptop and is secured with one screw. The outer part is made of black plastic with the same texture as the rest of the ThinkPad bottom case, with a drive icon next to the screw. On the inside the cover has a metal shield plate, and along the edges there are latches that slide into the case and keep the cover flush with the bottom surface. The label shows part numbers 60Y5500 (FRU), 60Y4986 and 60.4CU15.001.

🔧 INSTALLATION PROCESS

1. Turn off the laptop and disconnect the power adapter and all external devices

4. Slide the latches of the new cover into the edge of the bay and press the cover against the bottom case
5. Tighten the securing screw without overtightening it
6. Reinstall the battery, power on the laptop and check that the drive is detected
